On the 23rd of June 2023, TusStar Malaysia, in collaboration with MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation), hosted the highly anticipated Go China Accelerator Programmes Briefing Session. The primary objective of this event was to empower ambitious Malaysian tech startups and provide them with the necessary resources to enter the Chinese market successfully. Through this event, the startups gained valuable insights, connections, and market know-how to propel their ventures to new heights.

The event commenced with an opening remark speech by Ms. Chan Pei Leng, the Lead of MDEC Innovation Exchange (MIX) Digital Export. Her speech set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of international expansion and the potential benefits for Malaysian startups in the Chinese market.

Following the speech, attendees were treated to an engaging company tour of TusStar Malaysia.

After the tour, each startup had the opportunity to showcase their company through a 30-second to 1-minute presentation. This session allowed the startups to introduce themselves, highlight their unique value propositions, and generate interest among potential investors and partners in attendance.

The highlight of the event was the keynote presentation on the Go China Accelerator Program, delivered by Ravenna Chen, the Director of TusStar Asia Pacific. Chen's presentation provided in-depth information about the program, outlining its objectives, benefits, and the support it offers to Malaysian startups seeking to enter the Chinese market. Her insights and expertise served as a source of inspiration for the attending entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, success stories were shared during the event to motivate and inspire the startups. One such success story was that of Vencubator, represented by Trillion Tan, the Founder & CEO. Tan shared the journey of Vencubator and how they achieved significant growth and success with the help of TusStar Malaysia in the Chinese market.

To further facilitate the startups' understanding of the Chinese market, a briefing session on the China Business Delegation Trip, specifically focused on Agricultural Technology, was conducted. This session provided insights into the agricultural technology sector in China and outlined the opportunities available for Malaysian startups.

To commemorate the event and foster networking among the attendees, a group photo was taken, followed by a networking session. This provided an opportunity for startups, industry experts, and potential investors to connect, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations. The networking session seamlessly transitioned into a lunch, where attendees continued to build relationships and engage in meaningful discussions.

Overall, the Go China Accelerator Programmes Briefing Session organized by TusStar Malaysia and MDEC was a resounding success, offering Malaysian tech startups a platform to expand their horizons and make meaningful strides in the Chinese market. By combining expert insights, networking opportunities, and success stories, the event empowered these startups to thrive and take their ventures to new heights in the international arena.

Go China Accelerator

The Go China Accelerator Program is a proposed initiative aimed at assisting Malaysian technology startups in successfully entering the rapidly growing Chinese market. The program intends to prepare startups through innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in China, supported by state-level government backing. Its objective is to equip qualified Malaysian startups with the necessary skills and knowledge to overcome challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, regulatory compliance, and market competition in China.

The program will span a timeline of three weeks for intensive preparation, followed by an additional two weeks for participation in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. The language of communication will be in English and Chinese to cater to the needs of the participants.

The target audience for this program consists of Malaysian technology startups that possess a proven business model, a track record of success in the Malaysian market, and a product or service suitable for the Chinese market. Additionally, the startups should have a committed team with relevant skills and expertise, as well as the financial resources required to support market entry into China.

The expected outcomes of the Go China Accelerator Program include increased understanding of the Chinese market and business environment among Malaysian technology startups, improved readiness and competitiveness of these startups to enter the Chinese market, enhanced collaboration and business partnerships between Malaysian and Chinese technology companies, and a boost in investment and job opportunities within the Malaysian technology sector.
