Partnership Between TusStar Malaysia and MDEC: Commemorating the 5th Anniversary of Innovation Journey and Advancing Technological Progress

Introduction

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) was established in 1996 as a government agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Malaysia, tasked with spearheading the advancement of Malaysia's digital economy. Since the initiation of MSC Malaysia (now known as MD), MDEC has been steadfast in propelling digital transformation and fostering economic expansion nationwide. Through the implementation of enhanced incentives and robust governance to stimulate growth and reinvestment, MDEC aims to fortify Malaysia's preeminent position in the ASEAN digital landscape while unlocking fresh avenues for fostering shared prosperity among all Malaysians. Since the inception of TusStar Malaysia in 2018, our collaboration with MDEC has been instrumental in pioneering innovative strides within the digital sphere.

TusStar Malaysia is the only overseas brand recognized as Malaysia Digital Hub by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Malaysia. TusStar Malaysia's co-working space in Oasis Square, Ara Damansara covers an area of about 1,000 square meters and can accommodate more than 60 co-workers.

 

MDH Evaluation Meeting

Introduction: MDEC completed the 2022 evaluation for TusStar Malaysia as part of the Malaysia Digital Hub (MDH) assessment. TusStar Malaysia aims to foster stronger synergies with MDEC to propel this new national strategic plan, promoting the attraction of businesses, talents, and investments.

Introduction: TusStar recognizes and expresses gratitude to innovators under the age of 35 who dare to break barriers in the vast technology space, seek opportunities, and explore new horizons. The formal initiation of the ASEAN TECH 35U35 list is announced, marking a significant step in the 2021 China-ASEAN Science and Technology Innovation Series. Introduction: TusStar Malaysia's monthly VC Pitching Crush connects startups with seasoned venture capitalists and investors in the VC and ECF space. This exclusive event, limited to five startups monthly, offers a platform for innovative pitches to local and foreign investors, facilitating follow-on funding and potential customer connections. MDEC has participated as one of the investor panel judges to add valuable insights and expertise to the evaluation process, further enhancing the overall experience for participating startups and investors alike.

Introduction: In May 2023, hosted by the Government of Qingxiu, Nanning, Guangxi, and organized by Guangxi TUS Innovation Cross-border E-commerce and TusStar (Malaysia), a Malaysia Investment Promotion Seminar was held at TusStar (Malaysia). This event aims to seize new opportunities under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), actively contribute to the construction of the new international land-sea corridor, and deepen practical cooperation in the economic and trade sectors between Guangxi and Malaysia. Invited Mr. Kelvinder Singh , Manager of Overseas Digital Investment Department at Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), to deliver a speech.

Introduction: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives of Malaysia (MEDAC) initiated the inaugural "Dialog Persatuan Usahawan" (Entrepreneur Association Dialogue), aiming to establish a platform for collaboration between Malaysian government departments and entrepreneurial organizations. The goal is to enable the government to understand the challenges faced by businesses in Malaysia, provide rich information on policies and incentives, and promote the rapid development of small and medium-sized enterprises in response to the 12th Malaysia Plan.


TusStar (Malaysia) was invited as the sole representative from the China-Malaysian business and entrepreneurship community to participate in the discussion. A total of 59 government organizations and agencies related to entrepreneurship were invited to the dialogue forum, including Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and various others, contributing to the discussion on Malaysia's entrepreneurial ecosystem.


TusStar (Malaysia) Invited to Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition held in Malaysia (LIMA 2023)

Introduction: The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) is one of the most influential arms and equipment exhibitions in Southeast Asia, first held in 1991. LIMA 2023 featured 600 companies from 30 countries in the defense, security, and commercial sectors. TusStar (Malaysia) collaborated with partners including the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), and Malaysian drone solutions provider Aerodyne for this event.

Innovation and Technology Commercialization Professional (ITCP): Unlocking Opportunities – A Complimentary Course by TusStar for MDEC

Introduction: The ITCP course has been created by the Enterprise Innovation Institute at Georgia Tech, incorporating best practices and the Handbook on Technology Commercialization Practices in APEC Economies from International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN).


This course is intended to provide researchers, innovators, technology transfer professionals, technology commercialization professionals, and others in the field with a fundamental understanding of Innovation Technology Commercialization (ITCP) and methods for creating more innovation and talent within an innovation ecosystem.


The 30-hour course is delivered online and comprises six main modules. The instructors are all from Georgia Tech, recognized not only as academic experts but also as practitioners. TusStar, as partners with ITTN, has provided a complimentary course to MDEC.

These collaborative endeavors stand as clear evidence of international cooperation.
